Fall I Do's......

This past weekend I had the privilege of being a honorary bridesmaid in one of my good friends from college, Stevanie’s , wedding. The wedding and all of the festivities were absolutely beautiful, and Stevanie looked stunning.
The weekend started off at a Bridal Luncheon held at Birmingham’s Botanical Gardens. Stevanie gave each member of the wedding party a tote bag filled with lots of goodies.

Later that Friday we had the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. The dinner was beautiful, the King’s did such a wonderful job. It was held at a historic house in Birmingham called the Rucker House. Each room was decorated with beautiful floral arrangements and pictures of each Stevanie and Jeff, the dinner was lovely and it was so much fun getting to spend time with the bride and groom.

Saturday, the wedding was held at Samford University’s Reid Chapel. It was so good to be back at Samford, the campus was still as beautiful as ever, and being there brought back so many memories. Stetcie looked so beautiful, and her color scheme of plum purple and green was as well.

Precious Little Faces....

I just couldn’t resist posting these adorable pictures of the ‘kids’ completely exhausted after a fun weekend with Granna, Big Butchie, Aunt Sisssy, and Cousin Millie. They literally did not move from these spots for hours (they didn’t even want to go outside)!

Showers and Such....

This weekend my friends: Martha Grace, Brooke, Laura, and I threw a lingerie/bachelorette party for our good friend Stevanie . I hadn’t seen these girls in forever so it was great getting to see, and catch up with them. We had a wonderful time together and Stevanie got some really cute things. She even gave us all cute monogrammed robes for hosting the shower, (mine’s white with a pink “A”= perfect.) I can’t believe she is getting married in 2 weeks!

My job for the party was to bake cupcakes. I tried a new recipe for strawberry cupcakes with strawberry icing and it was simply delightful! I also found these cute bra and panty cookie cutters so I couldn’t resist making cute little ‘cookie shower favors.’ I was very pleased how everything turned out.

Bama Creatures

Where do I live again? I mean, I grew up in Florida land of the wild and home of two of the most scary animals in the world: Alligators and Sharks! Both of which I am deathly afraid, but never have had a personal encounter with. So of the 6 years I have lived in Alabama I have never had any issues with any animal other than the usual mosquitoes. That is until the past week and a half…

1st Encounter: At the end of last week I was taking the trash out from our garage and as I was reaching for something I spotted a HUGE black spider with a bright red hour glass on its belly, a freaking BLACK WIDOW! So naturally I freak out, and of course of all times this could happen Tyler is at work. Knowing I have to kill it so that it doesn’t bite any of us, I grab a 5ft long floor scrubbing brush (the first thing I could find that would keep me as far away from the spider as possible). After a few minutes of chasing the spider up and down and all around Ty’s tools, the feat was mine, one dead black widow!

2nd Encounter: This was probably the least scary of the three but still. On my way home from work last night I am driving, talking to my mom on the phone, and as I turn down the country road that leads back to our neighborhood I see this animal on the side of the road, alive looking out waiting to cross. It is not your usual dog or deer, but meaner and scarier looking, I swear it was either a wolf or a coyote (after some internet research, I learned both live here!) So I am trying to explain this scary animal to my mom, whom I am still talking to on the phone when at last I had my third encounter……

3rd Encounter: So as I pull into my neighborhood that same night, I am driving up the little hill and at the top I see this huge squiggly thing laying in the middle of the road, as I get closer I see that it is a very large snake. I hate snakes, all kinds of snakes, doesn’t matter the size, I hate all of them. So as I drive by this snake I rolled down the window to get a closer look and guess what I see…..rattles! This was a freakin RATTLE SNAKE! Complete with the markings and triangle head. So in the midst of my freak out, I ask my mom what I should do, she says run it over! Run it over! I knew I had to kill it, because I was so worried that it would someday show up and bite one of my dogs or a person or kid for that matter but I just couldn’t comprehend running it over , so I decided to call Tyler to see what he says I should do. His advice was to run it over as well, so I muster up the courage to run this big snake over and spatter its guts all over the road. Gross. Once it was dead, Ty finally got home and cleaned it up out of the street, saying it weight at least 12-15 lbs. I now am kind of proud of myself for killing a 15 lb. deadly rattlesnake, and I get to remember that night every time I pull in the neighborhood and can see the acid stain of the snake guts splattered in the road….just call me the snake wrangler!

Wedding Bells in Rocky Top...

This weekend Tyler and I went to Knoxville, TN for my friend Lindsay's wedding. Lindsay and I graduated nursing school together and she was an honorary at my wedding. It was so great to see her this weekend.

Tyler and I arrived in Knoxville late Friday night so that we could spend the day hanging around town before the wedding on Saturday. After breakfast at the hotel we went downtown to the farmers market, where we tasted delicious snickerdoodle cookies (my favorite), and bought the babies special homemade all natural dog biscuits (their dad’s idea). After the farmers market we visited the history center (again Tyler’s idea) and the shops of downtown. Early that afternoon my mother made sure to tell Tyler that UT was having a scrimmage later that day at the stadium…..I really did not want to go to this, I mean I am an Alabama fan I had no interest in seeing the Vols play one another, but hubs says “college football is college football” and I need to go with him a little while so I could at least see the stadium, plus he says he was going to scout for Bama…whatever. Any who I played the good wife and went with him in the scorching heat, all the while yelling ROLL TIDE!

Later that night we went to the wedding, Lindsay was an absolutely stunning bride and her ceremony and reception both were beautiful. Ash Finley and Ashleigh Pulley both came to the wedding as well so it was great to spend time with them….and wouldn’t you know, Pulley and I both showed up in the same dress, I mean what are the chances, haha.

Here are a few pictures we took at the wedding, including Lindsay and Johnathon’s adorable pink and green (her colors) “Candy Bar” with little personalized to go bags, they had at their reception.

Enjoy!

Welcome...

Hey y'all, I have been reading/following blogs for some time, and now I have decided to start one myself. My name is Ashley, I am married to a wonderful man, who has been my best friend for 10 years. Tyler and I were introduced by our parents at a high school sports banquet back in 1999, I was looking lovely I'm sure, having just finished cross country practice, and he as well in his football practice clothes. But from the minute I met that sophomore, christian, football player, I was smitten. We began dating shortly thereafter. We dated for two and a half years, took a break for a while, then found each other again in our college years in 2005, I a sophomore at Samford University and he a junior (football player) at Liberty University. We tied the knot in our hometown of Orlando, FL in May 2008.

We have two precious boxer's, a 2.5 year old female named Maybelle and a 2 year old male named Beau. Maybelle is our special 'child', a free-spirit, always in the spotlight, and mommy's best friend. Beau is our big 85 lb. blob of love, he's a very good listener, very outdoorsy, and daddy's best friend and shadow. They are our life.

We live a happy newlywed life in Alabama, and love it! My husband works in the city not far from me which is nice. I work as a registered nurse in a Trauma ICU and really enjoy what I do! I work 3 days a week, which gives me plenty of time to do different things. I love decorating our house, going to yard sales, baking, reading, college football and basketball, and spending time with friends and family.
